The spirit of adventure. The beauty of nature. The rich heritage. All captured in a timepiece.
The ASTERI.
In the dynamic world of watch design, every release is an opportunity to capture the essence of a unique narrative. For Argos’ second design, the team embarked on a journey to encapsulate the spirit of adventure and exploration while fostering a deep connection between the wearer and the natural beauty of the Philippines.
Beginning with the crucial decision of choosing the right type of watch, the team opted for a field watch for its durability, reliability, and sturdiness in rugged terrains—characteristics essential for any land adventure.
The Sierra Mountain Range was the perfect design inspiration for this pursuit. As one of the most biodiverse locations in the country, the Sierra Madre is a sanctuary for flora and fauna. It is often referred to as the backbone of the Luzon island, being the longest mountain range in the country and acting as a stalwart protector against the typhoons that frequently plague the island.
Named after the Greek word for 'star,' ASTERI embodies the Argos' commitment to advancing the Philippine watchmaking industry. It also serves as a reminder that, like mountains, we can find inspiration to reach new heights.
DESIGN FEATURES
The dial of the ASTERI evokes the spectrum and textures of the Sierra Madre, offering two faces: Forest Green and Midnight Blue.
The Forest Green dial reflects the lush and vibrant greens of the Sierra Madre mountain range during the day. This verdant hue not only encapsulates the landscape's natural beauty but also evokes a sense of vitality and freshness.
In contrast, the Midnight Blue dial represents the deep blues that envelop the mountain range during the tranquil night. This shade conveys a sense of serenity and mystery, capturing the atmospheric beauty of the Sierra Madre after sundown.
Together, these distinct dial faces not only reflect the changing tones of the mountainous environment but also contribute to the watch's versatile aesthetic, adapting seamlessly to various settings and occasions.
WATCH FEATURES
The finer details of the ASTERI are a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship behind its creation. Compared to the ODYSSEY, the crown on the ASTERI has been intentionally made larger for easy handwinding, accompanied by a crown guard to avoid accidental pulling.
The crown and the watch’s seconds hand draw inspiration from a compass, reinforcing the watch's connection to exploration.
The ASTERI also features Super-LumiNova® on applied indices, markers, and hands, serving as a constant reminder of the starlit inspiration behind the watch's name and allowing its wearer to easily check the time even at night.
Designed for versatility, the package offers both a quick-release steel bracelet and NATO strap swap option, making it fit for any adventure. The steel bracelet also features a push-button clasp with micro-adjustments to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
Contrary to the industry standard of two (2) anti-reflective coatings for the watch’s crystal, the ASTERI features four (4) layers of anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and ensure crystal-clear legibility in all conditions.
The case back of the ASTERI is a further reminder of the natural beauty that inspired the watch, fostering a connection between the wearer and the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Philippines, featuring the outlines of the Sierra Madre.
