ASTERI: Argos' new interpretation of Go Anywhere, Do Anything 'GADA' watch
Argos sets foot in the next phase of its journey to elevate the Philippine watchmaking industry as it launches its second watch, Asteri.
The unveiling of Asteri
Coming from the roots of its first model the Odyssey, which marked the start of the brand’s journey into the world of watches and watchmaking, the second-generation Asteri continues the path moving forward on the next phase of the brand’s adventure.
The Asteri likewise moves away from the go anywhere-do anything (GADA) watch type introduced in the brand’s flagship, and now presents a distinct character in the form of a field watch.
The Philippines as an adventure
As the land where Argos Watches was born, the Philippines is a treasure trove of sights and natural wonders for every adventurer. The Asteri mirrors the beauty of the country as it displays a unique take on wandering the Philippine archipelago.
Inspired by the Sierra Madre Mountain range in the island of Luzon – a natural geographical protection from harsh weather elements coming in-land – the Asteri combines both design and technical engineering to make a watch fit to wander out in the fields and mountains.
Design elements in the Asteri subtly reflect aspects of the Philippines, such as a forest green dial face which represents the vast mountains, forests, and greeneries often associated with the 7,107 islands in the country. The midnight dial face, on the other hand, can be interpreted as the midnight sky – symbolic of looking up to the stars for guidance as the adventure of life goes on.
Asteri, an ancient Greek word meaning ‘star’, represents the brand’s guiding light towards its vision of establishing and elevating the Philippine watchmaking industry.
Pre-order for Asteri is now open. Shipments will start on May 2024.
